What it is: An app that reminds you when you need to take out and replace your tampons during your period so you don’t have to constantly worry or fear Toxic Shock Syndrome (and you don’t have any embarrassing situations!)
What is costs: Free for Android and Apple devices.
Pros: A very simple interface allows you to easily record when you put a tampon in, and gives you varied options for how you’d like to be reminded to change it when the timer runs out. You can get discreet reminders to change your tampon, like an alarm, music, a text message or a picture. It also tracks your average tampon use and period length.
Cons: The app does not provide you with a recommended amount of time that you should leave a tampon in, based on your flow and the absorbency of your tampon (though the default is set to 5 hours). Therefore, you may need to do some research on optimal time to leave a tampon in before setting your alarm.
Upgrade to: Tampon Timer. This app serves the same basic functions as Tampon Minder, but also comes with recommendations from the US Department of Health. $1.99 in the app store.
