You may remember a while back we told you should be watching even more rom coms than normal because they’re good for your relationship. Well now there’s mounting evidence that they may be better for your waistline too, at least better than action movies (sorry, Die Hard fans).
A study recently conducted by Cornell University found that people tend to eat more food when watching action movies. The researchers think that action movies’ fast pace keeps viewers’ eyes on the screen, and they’re therefore distracted and don’t realize how much they’re eating. Of course, this finding held true for healthy foods, too. People simply ate more (ninety-eight percent more!) when watching action movies than a slower paced video.
If you are going to pop in a flick full of chase scenes, explosions and epic battles, make sure you have something healthy on hand, so even if you indulge a little too much, you’re still being good to your body. Or you could use this research as another excuse to watch something a little slower, a little softer, a little more… romantic comedy. Somehow science keeps supporting my favorite date night movie genre!
