Valentine’s Day, like all other holidays, will be a big day for Instagram enthusiasts. You may already be plotting your perfect post. Maybe you’re expecting a bouquet of roses to show up. You’ll snap your pic, hashtag it with #love and #blessed and tag your special someone. Or maybe you’ve got candle lit dinner plans and you can’t wait to get the ideal ambiance shot and have people guess where you are.
These romantic “life is good” posts can be great ways to show your gratitude for the things going well in your life, but as we know, they can also make your followers, people without love interests or big plans, feel bummed about their own Valentine’s Day plans or lack thereof. Maybe even beyond bummed. Like, eye-rolling, FOMO-filled levels of seething. We’ve all been there.
If you want to use your Instagram feed to really spread the love this Valentine’s day, focus less on your own romance and more on spreading love in your world. Here are four ways to do it.
1. The Quote-Gram: We’ve all seen these on Instagram. Pick one to inspire your followers.
2. The Bestie-Gram: Share your love with your followers. Tell them, and the people you love near and far, you’re grateful for them. (It may take more than one to get everyone in!)
3. The Cause-Gram: Highlight one of your favorite causes on your feed. There are a lot of people who need extra love and countless organizations that could use the encouragement (and exposure)! If you’re not sure who to support, here’s a great start.
4. Have an Attitude of Gratitude: If you’re sharing your Valentine’s day plans and/or love for your significant other, make sure you share how grateful you are. Try for a grateful, “I’m so lucky and excited” tone – instead of a “life is amazing look at ME #blessed” caption.
Happy love-gramming everyone, and have fun spreading the love!
